UWT Gaza Emergency Appeal

On 14th November 2012, another assault by occupiers began on Palestinians in Gaza. Aerial bombings are pounding residential areas across Gaza once more. Over a hundred Palestinians have been martyred and hundreds more injured.

Today's attack on Muslims in Gaza is merely symptom of a wider oppression that has taken place on our Palestinian brethren for decades. 80% of Gazans are in fact refugees who were expelled from lands that are now launching pads for assaults against them.

They are imprisoned behind impenetrable concrete walls, humiliating military checkpoints and economic sanctions. The recent bombings bring echoes of the brutal Cast Lead operation in 2009 when 1,500 Palestinians were martyred in just a few days.

Ummah Welfare Trust has an established base in Gaza from where it has administered relief efforts for many years alhamdulillah. The charity currently looks after orphans, sponsors students to become Huffadh of the Qur'an, installs generators in schools and hospitals and transports desalinated water to refugee camps.

The Tragedy continues…

Today is Wednesday, the 8th day of the Israeli Attack on the Gaza strip.

Last night, Israelis renewed their bombardment on Gaza. The Palestinian death toll has increased to more than 140 and over 1100 are now wounded.

Israel's latest attack on Wednesday targeted journalism offices in Gaza City, government buildings, homes and the historic bridge which connects Gaza city with southern part of the Gaza strip.

Today Ummah Welfare Trust representatives traveled from Gaza to Egypt to bring needed-supplies of medicines and medical equipment for hospitals in Gaza.

In Gaza there has been a chronic shortage of medical supplies and medicines since the beginning of siege in 2006.

Families who live on the edges of Gaza, especially in the north, left their homes to seek refuge with their relatives and friends inside Gaza city. They are afraid of a ground invasion and more sudden air strikes.

The children of Gaza are the most affected in this war. Their small hearts cannot withstand the booms of the air strikes and missiles.

Yesterday, a beautiful Palestinian girl (Rama Al-Shandy) died. She was one and a half years old. Her weak heart could not withstand the sounds and reverberations of the air strikes striking near her home.

Fuad Hejazi and his family were buried under the rubble of their house after Israeli rockets hit their home. He had twins – subhanAllah they left this life together for Paradise inshaAllah.

May Allah bring the peace to Gaza and its residents. Ameen.
