UWT Gaza Emergency Appeal

On 14th November 2012, another assault by occupiers began on Palestinians in Gaza. Aerial bombings are pounding residential areas across Gaza once more. Over a hundred Palestinians have been martyred and hundreds more injured.

Today's attack on Muslims in Gaza is merely symptom of a wider oppression that has taken place on our Palestinian brethren for decades. 80% of Gazans are in fact refugees who were expelled from lands that are now launching pads for assaults against them.

They are imprisoned behind impenetrable concrete walls, humiliating military checkpoints and economic sanctions. The recent bombings bring echoes of the brutal Cast Lead operation in 2009 when 1,500 Palestinians were martyred in just a few days.

Ummah Welfare Trust has an established base in Gaza from where it has administered relief efforts for many years alhamdulillah. The charity currently looks after orphans, sponsors students to become Huffadh of the Qur'an, installs generators in schools and hospitals and transports desalinated water to refugee camps.

Account from Gaza

The situation is getting worse here in the Gaza Strip, with constant waves of Israeli air strikes and fears of a ground invasion.

The nights are the toughest the people of Gaza have witnessed. The number of air strikes that took place was huge, at least five hundred in a night. The rhythm was every few minutes and sometimes several attacks came at the same time, targeting different locations.

It is extremely difficult to describe what is going on and the hard situation here.

My sister, who is 9, started crying - she just heard on the news that the Israelis will start ground invasion on Gaza.

She heard the frightening sounds of air strikes beside our house. Her body started to tremble.

The air strikes are very intense; so powerful that our house shakes with every strike.

I told my sister that these air strikes are very far away and that everything will be fine.  I tried to make her calm but I still watch the fear in her eyes every time there is an air strike.

In the streets of Gaza, the situation is not different. You can smell the odour of blood and death everywhere.

There is no soul or life in Gaza. The streets are empty, no people, no vehicles and no shops.

Just the shadow of death traces people everywhere in Gaza.

    Amazing efforts. I have shared ur website on fb with my friends as people in karachi, pakistan were asking how to send donations to palestine. Lots of prayers for you all.
